MARCOTHON UPDATE
2026-01-03
In December 25, a group of 37 brave runners took on Marcothon, a tough event that involved running for 25 minutes or 5 kilometres every day for the whole month. They faced all sorts of weather conditions, from wind and rain to hail and storms. One of the runners even did part of the challenge in Finland and ended up with frozen eyelashes! That’s dedication! There were times when they wanted to give up and stay inside in the warm, especially when some were struck down with coughs and colds. But as a team, everyone supported each other and encouraged one another to keep going and finish the challenge. What a team! They truly lived up to the motto: “Together Everyone Achieves More.”
Together we clocked up a whopping:
🏃♀️🏃♂️ 6,785.71km run
🗻 63,800m elevation
🕰️ 749.33 hours
This equates to running from Jersey to Manitoba in Canada, or Johannesburg, and climbing Mount Everest over 7 times! There were also plenty PBs over the month, surprising when we were all running on pretty tired legs!
Lots of new friendships were made, fun had and a few hangovers to boot. We even got to do some wicked Strava art in the shape of a reindeer in town (we got a lot of funny looks, all dressed in our Christmas fancy dress!). We might have started a new challenge - next stop Easter!
We are already looking forward to taking part in this challenge again in December and hope to have lots more brave souls join us!
